Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is intended to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail address, but to seem as being sent from a different one, usually with the purpose to fraud the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, an exclusive record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers around the world get it. The record includes all mail servers that are permitted to send authentic messages from an email address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and if its sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the target receiver. If, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it will be discarded. In case you employ this service, it will prevent third parties from sending spam messages which seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a couple of clicks. The option is accessible in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to select one of your domains from a drop-down list and to type in the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be certified to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the emails for it, not some third-party provider. This feature will give you the top level of security, but it's not applicable when only your site is on our servers while your emails for the domain name are taken care of in a different place. Regardless, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection feature is provided with all Linux semi-dedicated services, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you'll be able to use this service without difficulty for all your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a very easy to work with interface, which means that you don't need to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your e-mail addresses. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send emails from your addresses and shortly after that the updated record will be active for the domain name that you have picked. As a further option, we'll also allow you to restrict the outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes even better by permitting email messages to be sent only when the domain name in question has our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain should be handled here and not by another provider. Doing so you'll have even better control and there will not be any chance for anybody to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious intentions.
